A Study of Thirty-Nine Cases of Auricular Fibrillation
نویسنده
چکیده
There were 39 cases of auricular fibrillation in this series*. Only cases diagnosed by electrocardiograms are included. Other cases are eliminated. Age.?The youngest patient was a boy of 19 years who was admitted with mitral endocarditis and auricular fibrillation. He died in the hospital. The oldest patient was a man of 60 years with senile myocarditis. The majority of patients were between 30 and 45 years. Sex.?There were 7 females and 32 males. Irregularity ?Altogether 84 electrocardiograms were taken. In 24 cases, only one electrocardiogram was taken in each, 22 showing auricular fibrillation alone, and 2 showing auricular fibrillation with ventricular premature contractions. In the remaining 15 patients, more than one electrocardiogram was taken at different intervals. Of these, 4 showed persistent auricular fibrillation with persistent ventrfcular

Non-surgical Management of Congenital Auricular Deformities
BACKGROUND Unlike congenital auricular malformations which are identified by underdevelopment of dermal and cartilaginous tissues, deformed ears are less sever congenital anomalies characterized only by a misshaped pinna structure and can be improved with acceptable cosmetic results and minimal cost through ear molding if treated in early neonatal period. In this study, authors present the f...
متن کاملThe Relation of the Auricular Activity following Faradization of the Dog's Auricle to Abnormal Auricular Activity in Man
The tumultuous auricular activity which follows faradization of the auricles of mammals and which has been variously described, could be distinctly seen to consist almost constantly in our experiments on dogs of true fibrillatory movements of the separate muscle fibers coëxisting with a rapid auricular tachycardia. During peripheral stimulation of the right vagus nerve the true fibrillation alo...

In the first edition of his Diseases of the Heart, published in 1908, Mackenzie said: " the nodal rhythm is present in the majority of cases of severe heart failure and in a great many the immediate breakdown is directly attributable to the inception by the heart of this abnormal rhythm." In the third edition, in 1913, the term " auricular fibrillation " was substituted for that of " nodal rhyt...
متن کاملAuricular Flutter
Auricular flutter was first described by McWilliam in 1887 (Mackenzie, 1925) as a result of experimental stimulation. Ritchie (1905) obtained graphic records from the jugular vein, and Jolly and Ritchie (1908) (Mackenzie, loc. cit.) took electrocardiographic tracings from one of Ritchie's cases of auricular flutter. Mackenzie looking back through his old records found cases of auricular flutter...
متن کاملCan We Add Auricular Composite Graft to Our Rhinoplasty Armamentarium?
BACKGROUND The ala of the nose, with its particular texture and characteristics, poses both aesthetically and functionally intriguing challenges and is rather problematic regarding choices for reconstructive methods. Both flaps and grafts have been used to restore natural structure of nasal ala. The present study summarizes a ten-year experience of reconstructive surgery using small composite...
